Recently, two of Mr. Matt’s Lower Elementary students did some really BIG math work on the checkerboard. They correctly solved the following equation: 987,654,321 x 6545!  

 

 
   

 

Updated December 20, 2007   Over the past week Mr. Matt’s class has been working on several different projects and works.  The Upper El and Middle School have done several science experiments involving chemical reactions with copper chloride, copper sulfate, aluminum foil, ammonia and baking soda.  The Middle School children are working hard on the U.N. project and history with Mr. Dan and English work with Mrs. Prickett.  They are also working on a drug prevention commercial contest for the state of NJ.  Additionally they have been fundraising with the Upper El via poinsettia sales with the help of Amy Langowski and now Holly Sprigs thanks to Kim Stevenson and Mrs. Fox.  Following are some of the lessons offered to the Lower and Upper Els this past week:  God Who Has No Hands, The Coming of Life, Congruency, Similarity, and Equivalence with the metal insets, Introduction to fractions, Adding fractions and nomenclature, division with racks and tubes, learning about the Bronze and Iron Ages as well as Feudalism, function of the leaf, different kinds of nouns, and sentence and paragraph structure.  Mr. Matt went to a horse farm in Lumberton on Friday December 14th to scope out the possibility of including weekly horseback riding to the Elementary and Middle School Programs in the Spring.
